On Monday, July 7, and Tuesday, July 8, 2025, CAAB took part in the Kick-off Meeting of a new 42-month Horizon Europe project, HOLOGISTICS – Holistically Optimised Logistics Operations and Green Innovative Solutions for Transport Cargo Sustainably. The event was held at the Tecnopolo in Reggio Emilia.
HOLOGISTICS aims to revolutionize logistics through an integrated and innovative approach, introducing physical and digital solutions that will contribute to the decarbonization of logistics networks, while improving efficiency and operational flexibility. This 25-member consortium spans across the EU, UK, and Switzerland, and includes three pilot actions to test out the various tools and frameworks that will be developed.
CAAB was represented at the event by both its General Director: Dottor Alessandro Bonfiglioli and EU Project Manager: Sheliza Thobani, who presented CAAB’s role within the HOLOGISTICS project.
CAAB’s role will be to host Pilot 3: Shared Resources Demonstrator. This demonstrator will focus on the benefits and scalability of pooled logistics and shared EV resources, to incorporate shared EV charging and shared assets (e.g., forklift fleet) – combining the use of EVs with traditional logistics infrastructure – as well as using AI and IoT to alleviate food waste, combine fresh food pallets, and group shipments (tracking temperature and shelf life). The aim is to enable fewer food delivery vehicles, but better-optimized systems for logistics pooling, which will ultimately reduce CO₂ emissions within the last mile.
